Zaya Wade is officially an adult.
Dwyane Wade’s daughter has been having quite the year. First, she covered the latest issue of Seventeen magazine in February and opened up about making her runway debut at Miu Miu’s fall 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week.
The 17-year-old, who came out as transgender in Feb. 2020, is now reaching another milestone.
The model turned 18 on May 29, 2025, and made sure to strut her stuff in a gorgeous gown while walking on a runway while being cheered on by fans and friends.
Zaya Wade is the daughter of former NBA star Dwyane Wade and his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches. In 2023, she changed her name to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade and became legally recognized as a woman.
In addition to celebrating Zaya’s birthday, the event also honored the one-year anniversary of her organization, Translatable, a platform designed to support LGBTQIA+ youth and their caregivers.

“The most special birthday,” Zaya Wade wrote in her own Instagram recap. “Thank you to my friends and family who celebrated with me. it’s going to be an amazing year.”
Gabrielle Union, who is married to Zaya’s father, Dwyane Wade, posted a special message to Instagram as she celebrated the teen and shared photos from her birthday this past weekend.
“Your transparency should be studied. @zayawade,” Union began as the caption.
“They say parents are the ones to raise and show their children’ the way,’ but you’ve been the one to show us what true strength, vulnerability, and love really look like. At just 18, you’ve already shown the world what it means to be brave,” Union continued.
She concluded, “Your courage lights the way for so many to follow, and we’re right beside you every step of the way.”
