At the pace we are looking at reports, Kevin Durant could see a trade any day.
After the Phoenix Suns’ run for the ring got halted for this season, Durant almost immediately appeared on the trading block.
And from that time, there have been a couple of teams speculated as strong suitors for the Suns’ superstar.
Recently, The Stein Line’s Mark Fischer reported that the Toronto Raptors are open to trading their 2025 NBA Draft pick for Durant.
“The Raptors’ No. 9 pick is also increasingly viewed as perhaps the most likely top-10 pick in the draft to be traded. My sense is that Toronto would prefer to simply trade down rather than trade out of the first-round completely. Perhaps there is some swap potential in a deal with Phoenix and the Suns’ No. 29 overall selection,” Fischer wrote.

Toronto concluded the 2024-25 regular season with a disappointing 30-52 record. It was the fourth time in the last five years that they missed the playoffs. Nonetheless, there are reasons for optimism moving forward.
Toronto Raptors Have All The Reason To Trade For Kevin Durant

The Raptors have a promising young core, spearheaded by one-time All-Star Scottie Barnes, and they hold the No. 9 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
They have the opportunity to either strengthen their roster with another young talent or leverage that pick in a trade deal that could significantly alter their competitiveness in the Eastern Conference.

After spending two and a half seasons with the Suns, Durant is a hot commodity this offseason. There are a couple of teams linked to him, including the Raptors. They are said to be “lurking” in pursuit of him, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
Fischer noted that the No. 9 pick is increasingly seen as the most likely to be traded. And the Raptors possibly looking to trade down rather than exit the first round entirely.
There appears to be potential for a swap involving Phoenix’s No. 29 overall selection.
