SportsCenter made not one, but two embarrassing blunders when trying to show projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg on live television ahead of tonight’s NBA Draft.
Flagg has long been regarded as an essential lock to go first overall in this year’s draft, with the Dallas Mavericks holding the top selection. Yet for some reason, ESPN’s broadcast team couldn’t perform the simple task of showcasing Flagg during their live coverage.
As the cameras rolled on the draft floor, Elle Duncan prematurely told the fans, “You’re looking at Cooper Flagg.” But as the camera moved up and showed Ace Bailey, Duncan had to awkwardly correct herself and state that it was actually the Rutgers product.
The cameras then switched over to Dylan Harper, but Duncan mistakenly said it was Flagg once again:
That is most certainly not Cooper Flagg. pic.twitter.com/zGUP0WChko

Blunders on live television happen, but twice in a matter of seconds? Next time, they should show the faces of the players first and then allow the anchor to name the person on television correctly:
So to recap, Cooper Flagg was not on television. It was Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper. Better luck next time, ESPN.

In his one season at Duke, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the field en route to National college player of the year honors.
Cooper Flagg Brings New Hope To Mavericks

The Mavericks fanbase was rattled when Nico Harrison inexplicably traded away franchise star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. But some significant luck in the draft lottery suddenly alters the long-term outlook of this franchise.
Dallas now has a promising “big three” led by Flagg and a pair of future Hall of Famers in Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.
