New Orleans Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson has been accused by an ex-girlfriend of rape, according to a civil complaint filed in a Los Angeles court on Friday.
Court documents show that the unnamed woman was in an abusive relationship with Williamson from 2018 until 2023.
The suit filed by Jane Doe says that Williamson and the plaintiff started dating around 2018 while he was a freshman at Duke. She claims he raped her twice in Los Angeles in 2020. In addition to that, the lawsuit alleges other incidents took place in New Orleans.
She further alleges a sustained pattern of abusive, controlling, and threatening behavior throughout their relationship.
The plaintiff also claims that Zion Williamson’s abuse was sexual, physical, emotional, and financial in nature. She added that on multiple occasions, he would choke or smother her, causing her to reasonably fear for her life.
Additionally, Williamson is accused of threatening not only her life but also the lives of her family members.

Doe’s attorney provided a copy of the filing, as well as a comment, to The Daily Mail:
“We and our client do not want to litigate this case in the press,” the statement from the Lanier Law Firm’s Sam Taylor began.
“However, I will say this is a very serious case as reflected in the Complaint filed in Los Angeles County. Our client looks forward to her day in court before a jury of her peers to obtain justice in this matter.”
This is not the first time Williamson has faced controversy involving his personal relationships. In 2023, a porn star publicly accused him of cheating by sleeping with other women behind her back as she threatened to release x-rated videos of him.
