Jason Collins is a former NBA player who became the first active openly gay male athlete in the four major North American professional sports.
Collins came out in a 2013 personal essay for ‘Sports Illustrated.’
Over the weekend, just before Pride Month, Collins married The Help producer in a ceremony in Austin, Texas.
To commemorate the occasion, the now-retired basketball player re-posted various photos from his wedding on his Instagram Story with long-time partner Brunson Green.
Their paths first crossed in early 2014, when Collins was navigating life on and off the court. He recalled meeting Green at a Los Angeles gathering and feeling an instant connection. Now, they are tied together forever.
According to social media posts shared by the bridesmaid and Hollywood actress Octavia Spencer, the ceremony took place on May 29 and was an intimate outdoor affair beneath a canopy of fairy lights.

Jason Collins wore a tailored midnight-blue tuxedo, and Green wore a classic black suit with a subtle satin lapel as they exchanged vows beside a flowing creek.
Among those capturing the moment was veteran Nets teammate Richard Jefferson, according to the New York Post.
Jason Collins Was Never An NBA Star, But He Did His Job

Jason Collins had no points and two rebounds in his first NBA contest of 2014. It would not define his career.
He entered that game and became the first openly gay player to play in one of America’s four major professional sports leagues.
Collins, a 7-foot-tall veteran of six NBA teams, had career averages of 3.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.8 fouls per game.
That would end up being his final season in the league, as he played in 22 games.
He may not have been a star, but he spent 13 years in a league where most players can barely crack five.
Collins is a success story in more ways than one.
