After two and a half seasons with the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant is back in the middle of trade rumors. One team that previously sparked his interest before the February trade deadline was the New York Knicks. However, according to NBA insider Stefan Bondy, the Knicks are currently not pursuing a trade for the two-time champion.
The Knicks’ hesitation might reflect long-term planning or confidence in their current roster, but not everyone agrees with their stance. Former NBA center Kendrick Perkins didn’t hold back when reacting to New York’s apparent disinterest. Speaking during his appearance on the Gil’s Arena show, Perkins expressed disbelief at the Knicks’ reported position.
“They f****d me up the other day when they said they have no interest in getting Kevin Durant. I was like, ‘What? What you… like, who are you? And what have y’all done as a franchise, in the last 52… Like, y’all ain’t won a championship in 52 years,” Perkins said.
“Who are you to say y’all don’t have interest in one of the greatest scorers to ever touch a damn basketball?!”

“Who are y’all to say that y’all don’t have interest in one of the greatest scorers to ever touch the damn basketball? Motherf****r who still averaging about 27 points, shooting ’50-40-90,’ to say y’all don’t have interest?” he added.
Suns Reportedly Want Their Own Picks Back In Kevin Durant Trade Talks With Rockets

Trade discussions between the Suns and Rockets surrounding Kevin Durant are heating up, but Phoenix appears to be standing firm on its demands. According to Brian Windhorst, the Suns are prioritizing the return of their own unprotected 2027 and 2029 first-round picks in any potential deal with Houston.

“Houston is really not motivated to dip into the stash of picks that they have. They have two future Phoenix Suns draft picks. That’s what the Suns want back. They literally want some of the stuff back that they traded for Durant,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s Get Up.
Those unprotected picks were initially dealt away by the Suns during the 2023 blockbuster trade that brought Durant to Phoenix from the Brooklyn Nets. Now, as the team reassesses its direction following a disappointing 2024-25 season, they seem eager to recover future assets they once sacrificed to chase a title.
Meanwhile, the Rockets have made a strong offer of their own. NBA insider Brett Siegel reported that Houston has put Jalen Green and the No. 10 pick of the 2027 NBA Draft on the table in exchange for Durant. Despite the appeal of that package, it appears the Suns are not fully satisfied with the offer.
