Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas recently sparked debate among the NBA community with his remarks about the league’s ring culture. His comments prompted Draymond Green to respond with a strong defence.
During a recent appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Gilbert Arenas pointed out that players considered the second option on their team often do not receive the same level of respect for their titles. This sparked a reaction from Draymond Green, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond.
Green stated that players who have never won a championship can have conversations like Arenas. Arenas, known for not shying away from controversies, addressed Green’s comment during a recent episode of Gil’s Arena.
“If you don’t like my research and my answer, then you answer it. And please don’t say, I don’t care. Come up with an educated answer,” Arenas said.

The 2025 NBA draft ended with several surprising and emotional moments. As anticipated, the Dallas Mavericks selected Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick. Following the event, numerous discussions sparked among the NBA community. Meanwhile, during a recent episode of Draymond Green’s show, Green reflected on Flagg’s selection.
“I don’t think he could have asked for anything better as the number one pick. You ain’t gotta go average 25 points on a bad team or 20 points on a bad team. You get to go compete and learn from some of the best, you know, so I think that’s great. A lot of times, when you’re the number one pick, you go to a s—– organization. This time, it’s going to a great organization,” Green said.
In the 2024-25 NCAA season, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 7.5 rebounds over 37 games.
