Karl-Anthony Towns played a significant role in boosting the New York Knicks’ offense during their 2025 playoff run. However, Towns’ defense remained a sore spot, particularly as the stakes grew higher in the Eastern Conference Finals. Even the Knicks team got frustrated with KAT’s defensive performance.
Still, not everyone agreed with the negative takes. Former NBA forward Chandler Parsons stepped in to defend Towns during his appearance on the show “Run it Back.” Parsons shared that despite Towns’ defensive struggles, his offensive value far outweighs his flaws.
“You keep him and realize he’s one of the best bigs in the NBA, and his offense and his production on that end can outshine. Think about the stars. Jokic isn’t the greatest defender. Luka is not the greatest defender. Jalen Brunson is not the greatest defender,” Parsons said.
"Jokic isn't the greatest defender. Luka isn't the greatest defender. Jalen Brunson's not the greatest defender…don't fire Thibs, get off KAT and the Knicks will probably be in great shape next season."@ChandlerParsons isn't surprised NYC is blaming KAT more than Brunson :eyes: pic.twitter.com/2C2x2JKaGy

“KAT is a generational talent. You don’t do anything with him besides maybe show him film and show him some things that he can clean up. No panic, don’t fire Tibbs, get off KAT, and the Knicks will probably be in great shape next season, too,” he added.
