Cooper Flagg has turned out to be a phenom. Dominating the college basketball realm, Flagg is now all set to take the NBA by storm. With his impressive on court skills, the Dallas Mavericks surely have a champion on their hands. And while Flagg has created a lot of buzz, he has also drawn comparisons with the NBA icons. Likewise, ex-GM of the Warriors, Bob Myers had a bold prediction for the youngster.
Bob Myers recently spoke with ‘ESPN’ about Cooper Flagg. Reflecting on the same, Myers drew comparisons with Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama is widely regarded as the best rookie drafted in the NBA after LeBron James in 2003. But Myers wanted to take things up by a notch. He stated that Flagg might eclipse Wembanyama this season. And he had his reasons. Myers pointed out how Flagg is an all-around prospect. His guarding, defending, and blocking skills looks NBA ready right from the word go.
“Victor Wembanyama got a lot of attention being the No. 1 pick. I could see Cooper Flagg impacting winning more than Victor did in his rookie year… Cooper Flagg is NBA-ready as they come… He went to a team that’s a very good team,” Myers said.
