It is a longstanding dream for the Bay Area team to see Giannis Antetokounmpo teaming up with Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors.
At times, Giannis has been vocal about his admiration for Steph. Most recently, he has been raving about himself on Twitter alongside legends like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James.
Recently, Giannis surprised everyone with an appearance at Google I/O 2025. The surprise was too good for the Warriors fans to miss. After he took to the stage, rumors picked up pace, as it came at a time when the Bucks might need to rebuild.

And the idea of Giannis coming to Golden State has taken off.
Some fans might not realize that Giannis genuinely loves the Google Pixel smartphone. He’s been spotted using it even before he officially partnered with the brand. The Greek Freak has also appeared in commercials and proudly represented ‘Team Pixel.’
This adds a cool connection since Google Pixel is also an official partner of the NBA.

Apart from all of this, Giannis had another personal reason for choosing the Warriors. His wife is from Fresno, California, just a couple of hours away from the Bay Area.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Dream Of Playing Alongside Stephen Curry Might Favour The Warriors Trade

The Golden State Warriors might have a shot at trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason, although it seems like a long shot.
If the Bucks decide to make him available, you can bet almost every team in the NBA will buy the proposal.
Teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks could offer some pretty enticing trade packages filled with draft picks. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets could most probably join them, too.
These teams could easily become title contenders if they land the Greek Freak.
So, where do the Warriors fit into all this? They might not have the best trade assets compared to those other teams, but they’ve got something special. The allure of playing next to Stephen Curry.

There’s been talk that Giannis has always dreamed about teaming up with Curry. Reports even suggest that he’s quite intrigued by the idea. As one insider noted, there was a sense that Giannis wanted to be Steph’s teammate sooner rather than later. That’s a big deal.
Now, while Giannis doesn’t have a no-trade clause, he can opt out of his contract in just two seasons. If he makes it clear he won’t re-sign with any team that trades for him, that team’s chance to get a good return diminishes quickly.
This is precisely why teams like the Utah Jazz and Charlotte Hornets are on the sidelines in this race. They know it would be tough to convince him to stick around.
