There’s been a huge buzz on the internet regarding LeBron James. Some for his age, some for him faking an injury, and some for him not having a ‘bag.’
Giannis Antetokounmpo is usually pretty quiet on social media, but even he couldn’t hold back when the internet went too far this time. In the latest round of basketball debates, critics took aim at LeBron again, pushing the familiar claim that “he has no bag.”
But this time, LeBron decided to set the record straight. On a recent episode of Mind The Game, he addressed the long-standing narrative that he does not have a flashy style or complicated dribble moves.
Instead of getting defensive, he took a moment to reflect. “I see it all the time. I’ll be on social media, and it’s like, ‘LeBron has no bag.’ And I’m sitting here with like 50 billion points,” he said.
Giannis, who knows a thing or two about facing criticism for his own playing style, felt this one deeply.
He jumped onto X (formerly Twitter) to support his fellow superstar.
“If they’re people out there that believe that one of the greatest players to ever be on earth has no bag… Man I’ve seen it all,” Giannis wrote.

However, in the current NBA landscape, “having a bag” has become a sort of meme. It’s all about those flashy dribbles, ankle-breakers, and stepbacks that get people talking and going viral.
But Giannis and LeBron both grew up watching a different style of basketball. And both of them still make plenty of highlight plays, but they don’t need to go through 15 dribbles to get there.
LeBron James And Giannis Antetokounmpo Are Good Without A ‘Bag’

In 2025, LeBron is still going strong at 40 years old, averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists. He’s ranked 13th in the league for scoring and continues to lead the Lakers like the true maestro he is.
Meanwhile, Giannis consistently faces the “no bag” label too, even after winning multiple MVP awards and helping the Bucks clinch a title in 2021.
It’s hard to see how anyone could doubt a player averaging over 30 points a game while being one of the most effective two-way forces in the league.
Giannis and LeBron both remind us that greatness in basketball is more about impact rather than about style points.
Things like footwork, timing, strength, and vision may not go viral, but they win games.
Critics should remember that LeBron has been dominating the NBA for over twenty years with a skill set that has truly reshaped the game. If that’s not a “bag,” then maybe it’s time to rethink what that term really means.
