The Golden State Warriors are looking for ways to get back into championship contention as Stephen Curry nears the end of his Hall of Fame Career. After an early exit in this year’s playoffs, partly due to Curry’s hamstring injury in the semifinals, the team faces a key offseason with nine potential free agents. One big name that has come up in trade rumors is Giannis Antetokounmpo.
After another postseason exit, Giannis Antetokounmpo still has two years left on his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. While he hasn’t asked for a trade, rumors about his future are growing. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes the Warriors could be one of the few teams capable of putting together a strong trade package if Giannis becomes available.
What Will The Golden State Warriors Offer?

“Yes, there is a package that the Warriors could use,” Windhorst said. “They have some future draft picks. They have interesting young players. Like last year, Brandin Podziemski was off limits. Who knows if that’s going to be the case this year?” He also pointed out that while the Warriors can outbid other teams, Giannis would have the power to influence a trade if he wanted to play with Curry.
Warriors’ top assets include Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and future first-round picks. While these may not be the most attractive to rebuilding teams, the Warriors offer Giannis the chance to compete right away with a strong core led by Curry and Draymond Green.
Giannis averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists this season. The numbers would instantly help the warriors back into the title holder. From Bucks’ perspective, they would likely want a blend of high upside youth and pick control if they moved their two-time MVP.
While no official trade announcement occurred, Windhoistated, “If Giannis went in and said, ‘I want to be with Steph Curry. That’s who I want to play with. Is there a deal that could happen between those two teams? Yes. I would be lying to you if I told you the Warriors couldn’t trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.”
