A fascinating trade proposal has the Milwaukee Bucks trading franchise star Giannis Antetokounmpo to a Western Conference heavyweight in a move that would turn the NBA upside down.
The two-time league MVP has taken center stage in NBA trade rumors since the Indiana Pacers soundly eliminated Milwaukee in just five games during the opening round of the postseason.
Milwaukee has won just a single playoff series since claiming the NBA championship in 2021. They won their opening round series in 2022 but have gone home in round one in three consecutive years.
With superstar guard Damian Lillard set to miss most (if not all) of 2025-26 recovering from a torn Achilles, the Bucks’ title window has closed. And it’s time to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo and begin a rebuild.
Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz proposed a blockbuster trade idea that has Milwaukee sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Cam Whitmore, Jabari Smith Jr., Aaron Holiday and first-round picks in 2025 and 2027:
“If the Rockets had had Antetokounmpo for their first-round series against the Golden State Warriors, we’d be talking about Houston moving on and seriously pushing the Oklahoma City Thunder to get to the NBA Finals.
Antetokounmpo is exactly what this team needs: A No. 1 scoring option who’s also a skilled passer and can dominate on both ends of the ball.
In this proposal, the two-time MVP would join a core of Alperen Şengün, Amen Thompson, Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Reed Sheppard and Tari Eason to create a powerhouse in the West ready to compete for championships.”
The Rockets finished second in the Western Conference with a 52-30 record, but the more experienced and seventh-seeded Golden State Warriors beat them in a close seven-game series. So of course, a player like Gannis could be the final piece needed to help Houston reach the next level.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Should Request A Trade

Giannis has done everything the Bucks could have asked of him. He led the franchise to a championship four years ago, and it’s not his fault they made head-scratching roster moves and coaching changes to derail a team that should have pushed for dynasty status.
He should do what’s best for him and request a trade. If you’re Milwaukee, it’s better to trade the future Hall of Famer now before his trade value decreases down the line.
