An Indiana Pacers fan has been charged after allegedly stabbing a New York Knicks fan and injuring another during an Eastern Conference Finals Game 2 watch party.
The 24-year-old Indiana man allegedly stabbed a man in the back during a fight with two New York Knicks fans at a Carmel, Indiana, brewery during a playoff game between the Knicks and Pacers. Carmel is a suburb of Indianapolis.
Per court documents, 24-year-old Jarrett Funke of Carmel is charged with three felony counts from the incident.
An employee at Danny Boy Beer Works told cops that Jarrett Funke left the brewery after a fight only to return and stab a man in the back, according to Fox 59.
Per the report, police were initially called to the brewery because of an argument involving Funke during the broadcast of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
One of the alleged victims told police that the Indiana Pacers fan had “smacked” a Knicks hat off of one of their heads. Funke allegedly yelled, “F— you, you still have a f—ing problem, take this outside,” to the two men, according to one of the alleged victims.
According to the Indianapolis Star, that is when Funke’s father intervened and pulled him away to try to de-escalate the situation. After being asked to leave, Funke and his family left the brewery.

A caller informed police that they were no longer needed. However, he would call minutes later and tell them that Funke had returned to the establishment’s patio and confronted the two alleged victims as they were smoking.
One of the Knicks fans said that he pulled out a knife to deter Funke, then put it back in his pocket “as he had no intention of using it.”

That was more than enough for the Indiana Pacers fan to pull out his own knife and stab the man in his back, according to documents. The other Knicks fan attempted to pull Funke off of his friend, but his leg was cut against the patio’s stoop.
Both men were “bleeding profusely.”
Per the documents, Funke told police that “they were talking s***” and that one of the men had pushed him to the ground and “began punching him in the face.”
Multiple witnesses identified Funke as the “primary aggressor in this incident,” according to the court documents.
