The Denver Nuggets are preparing to face the Los Angeles Lakers in an important Western Conference game on Wednesday night. Fans are curious about Nikola Jokic’s status for the game as both teams are competing for playoff positioning.
Denver is currently third in the standings, while the Lakers are just one game behind in fourth. However, Jokic is listed as questionable for the game with a right elbow contusion and a left ankle injury. Additionally, Jamal Murray is also questionable for the game with a right ankle sprain.

The Nuggets are coming off an unexpected victory against the Golden State Warriors but will look to build on that momentum even without their key players. Conversely, the Lakers will continue to be without LeBron James, who is recovering from a groin injury.
So far this season, the Lakers hold a 1-2 record against the Nuggets and will look to even the series in their final matchup of the regular season. In the three games against the Lakers this season, Jokic has averaged impressive stats of 24.7 points, 11 rebounds, and 7.7 assists.

Draymond Green recently weighed in on the heated MVP race between two standout players, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic. In a candid discussion on his podcast, Green pointed out an interesting dilemma surrounding Jokic’s impressive season.
He noted that if Jokic were enjoying the stellar stats he’s currently putting up without any previous MVP accolades, he would likely be a shoo-in for the award. However, he believes that audience familiarity with Jokic’s extraordinary numbers has somewhat diminished their perceived value.
“If Joker was having this year, statistically and all of that, if he was having this year and had never won MVP, he’d undoubtedly be MVP. But because people have grown accustomed to him averaging those type of numbers, you kind of get a bump down from that,” Green said on his podcast.

“10 years from now, 5 years from now. Jokic doesn’t win MVP… and you put those stats next to Shai’s stats, everybody’s gonna be like, what the hell, there’s no chance this guy didn’t win MVP.”

He also emphasized that, historically, the MVP race has often favored fresh narratives and breakout performances. And it may tilt the scales in Gilgeous-Alexander’s favor despite Jokic’s extraordinary stats.
