The Pelicans are gearing up for the Sunday matchup against the Hornets, but they have a not-so-good injury update.
While struggling most of this season, Zion Williamson is listed as out against the Hornets. This will mark Williamson’s fifth straight game when he sits out. Priorly, he has been sidelined for the last four games due to a back injury he picked against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This latest setback has led to plenty of frustrations among fans about his availability since he joined the league in 2019. He’s only played in 30 games this season, and the Pelicans have struggled without him. The team holds a tough 10-33 record when he’s watching from the sidelines.
On the floor, he averages 24.6 points with 56% shooting.
As the team sits at 20-54 this season, it’s heartbreaking for fans to see them miss the Play-In Tournament for the first time in four years. The Pelicans had high hopes for Zion to stay healthy this year. Especially after he managed to play in 70 games last season.

Pelicans Have To Make An Important Zion Williamson Decision

The Pelicans are at a crucial juncture regarding Zion Williamson as they head into the offseason. After a stretch of solid performances and a career-high in games last season, Zion’s lower back bruise has kept him out for several games.
The team also looks at a potentially high draft pick, which could change everything. It’s a tricky spot to be in. Should they keep building around Zion, or is it time for a fresh start? Especially if they land a standout talent like Cooper Flagg?

Ant: Foul!”
Zion: “That sh*t is soft as f*ck”
Ant: “Foul, foul n****!”

This summer is going to be huge for the Pelicans. If they get a top draft pick, they’ll have to figure out how Zion fits into their plans for the future. With some valuable veterans on the roster, they could explore trades, making it even more important to make a decisive move.
The last thing they want is to wait too long and see Zion’s trade value drop due to injuries or inconsistency. They must be proactive to ensure they have the best possible assets moving forward.
