A unique item signed by Kobe Bryant has sold for an unbelievable sum.
You might be used to reading pieces about jerseys of NBA players and former players fetching millions at auctions. But, while this piece didn’t garner nearly as much, it’s still surprising given what it is.
The item, a copy of “The Old Man And The Sea” read and signed by the deceased star was listed by Goldin this week. Kobe read the book while he was attending high school in 1994 and he would go straight to the NBA two years later, opting to skip college for a career in pro basketball.
The decision paid off handsomely and the former Laker enjoyed an illustrious career. It’s just sad that he wasn’t able to live out his retirement as he planned.
The copy of the aforementioned book sold for $10,500 this Friday. As you can see in the photos above, it was borrowed from the Lower Merion High School library in 1994.
Kobe attended the school from 1992 to 1996 before going on to become one of the best players in NBA history.
With the league hosting its 72nd All-Star Game this Sunday, someone’s going to win the All-Star MVP trophy renamed after him in 2020.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
