Ja Morant has the confidence of a champion and that was proven in a recent interview where he says he would have “cooked” an all-time great NBA player.
Speaking with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, the Memphis Grizzlies superstar said he would have loved to play in Jordan’s era. The 22-year-old gave Jordan his flowers but said he would have “cooked” him if they played in the same era.
“I wish I played in his generation,” Morant said. “I heard he was, like how high he go about the game, just that mindset. I would have liked to play against him.
“I would have cooked him. I would have cooked him, too. Nobody got more confidence than 12. I’ll say nobody gon’ beat me one-on-one or anything. I don’t care what it is, what sports it is, soccer. Who’s the best player in soccer? Come on, we can play.”
Morant did not stop at the GOAT of basketball, he also went on to challenge Lionel Messi to a shootout. He then said he would like to play goalie against Messi.
“I wanna be the goalie. Somebody set it up,” Morant said.
This past season, Morant became the first player in NBA history to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Player, and the first Grizzlies player to win the latter award.
He set career bests in scoring (27.4 points per game), rebounds (5.7), steals (1.2), and field-goal shooting (49.3%).
