The Chicago Bulls are in the process of reshaping their roster, and Josh Giddey has become a focal point of their plans.
Giddey ended last season on a high note. He averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists with the Chicago Bulls. His all-around game enables the team to make a strong competition for a play-in spot. Giddey is not just a role player but a potential leader for the future.
Despite his significant contributions, the franchise is quite silent. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently reported on NBA Today, “We don’t have any update on Josh Giddey. They’re not coming to a deal anytime soon, from what I understand.” This blunt reaction surprised everyone, as Giddey is entering restricted free agency with his growing value.

Marc Stein projected that Giddey’s contract for next season will likely be in the $150 million range over five years. The deal is similar to what Jalen Suggs and Jalen Johnson signed. The numbers are significant, but Giddey’s caliber and age seem to indicate he is worth it. Besides, the Bulls’ young core is stacked with Coby White, Patrick Williams, and rookie Matas Buzas. They should resign Giddey to build something better for the future.
The Chicago Bulls Have A Strong Chance To Keep Josh Giddey In Their Lineup

The Bulls have cap facilities. They have $36.6 million under the luxury tax, with a $14.1 million mid-exemption. Moreover, they have a $17.2 million trade exception still available. The Bulls have re-signed Tre Jones for three years and $24 million using Bird rights. Additionally, one roster spot is still open to make a deal with Josh Giddey.

The Bulls have already faced criticism this offseason, including the Lonzo Ball trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The deal brought back only Issac Okoro and no draft picks. Now, this time, whether they will keep Giddey or not, they need to be more cautious with their decisions. If they want to rely on a young core and build around it, they must secure Giddey.
