Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey made an unexpected request this offseason to the NBA. The request came as Giddey was looking for a big contract in restricted free agency. The deal was exactly the same as the Orlando Magic gave Jalen Suggs.
Giddey had a promising career with the Chicago Bulls after he came from the Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged 14.6 points,8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game. He excels in shooting and is exceptionally strong in his passing and rebounding.
On Ballmagnet, Giddey shared that he wants to play in Australia‘s NBL during the offseason to stay in game shape. “I’ve tried to ask the NBA if I can come home & play in NBL during the offseason. It keeps me in game shape. There’s no better way to stay sharp than actually playing.”

Giddey aims to sharpen his gaming skills, but now depends on the league. According to Joe Crowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Giddey demands a $30 million annual deal. Whether the NBA allows his request or not is in the blur. But if it happens, this move can build his market value, and it will be high.

The Bulls are staying quiet about Giddey’s contract extension. The Bulls’ front office is not looking to rush to meet Giddey’s $30 million per year demands. The Bulls seem to risk their guard as the negotiations continue.

The management believes they are operating from a position of strength. As Bulls insider K.C. Johnson remarked, they learned from past deals like Patrick Williams and are cautious about overpaying without competitive offers on trade.
Even though the Chicago Bulls have faith in Giddey and consider him a key piece to the depth, they are hesitating to commit financially. He is now waiting for the other trades and hopes to make a common spot with Giddey to make the deal work.
