Tyrese Haliburton showed his dominance on the court throughout the Indiana Pacers’ playoffs and NBA Finals series. Hali was more motivated to show his value, especially after a poll recognized him as the “most overrated” player in the league. But not everyone is still convinced.
Memphis Grizzlies star Kentavious Caldwell-Pope recently appeared on the Dawg Talk podcast with Jordan McGruder. He was asked directly whether he considers Haliburton a superstar.
“No. That’s what we’re going off of, and even I wouldn’t even build a team around Donovan Mitchell either,” he said.
KCP didn’t stop there. He drew a clear line between good players and those he considers true superstars while placing both Haliburton and Mitchell outside that elite group.

“We’re talking superstars — guys who elevate teammates and get wins when it matters. I can’t do that with Donovan Mitchell. And I’m 50/50 on Haliburton. He might put up 25 & 8, but he’s not consistent.”… pic.twitter.com/ctf8U5BiEI

According to KCP, consistency is the true mark of a superstar. He acknowledged Haliburton’s clutch moments but expressed doubt over his full-game impact.

“He’s clutch now, but like consistently throughout the game, I need you to be consistent with shooting the ball, your playmaking, all that. I don’t think he’s likeable. He’s getting there, but it’s still inconsistent.”
Pacers Rally Behind Haliburton As He Recovers from Finals Injury

Tyrese Haliburton is still in the process of recovering from the Achilles injury he sustained during Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. To show their support, the Indiana Pacers shared a heartfelt message on social media, encouraging fans to unite behind their star guard.
“Hearts for Hali. Calling all fans to help us let Tyrese know that Pacers Nation and the basketball world is behind him on his road to recovery,” the post read.
The setback was a crushing blow, especially after his stellar postseason performance and the Pacers’ inspiring run. Hence, rather than placing blame, fans are recognizing his leadership and dominance throughout the final series.
