Some Golden State Warriors fans still haven’t moved on from Kevin Durant’s decision to leave the team back in 2019. While speaking on The Draymond Green Show, Durant himself acknowledged that certain fans may always carry a sense of disappointment over his departure.
Durant, now with the Phoenix Suns, is facing challenges this season as the team struggles to stay competitive. Despite these setbacks, teammate Bradley Beal remains optimistic. Beal recently stated that the Suns are still capable of making a late push for the playoffs.
However, fans haven’t been kind to Durant during this rough patch. One particular fan went as far as saying that Durant is now suffering in Phoenix because he let his “ego” dictate his decision to leave Golden State. This criticism seemed to strike Durant’s nerves. The former MVP didn’t hold back in his response, pushing back against the narrative that ego fueled his move.
“I’m the most egoless player you’ve ever seen. Yall just don’t know me well enough and let media corrupt your brains…shame on you,” Durant wrote.

Currently, the Suns sit in the 11th spot in the Western Conference with a record of 35-42. Despite the team’s struggles, Durant is continuing to perform at a high level. He’s averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.

Kevin Durant is reportedly considering leaving the Phoenix Suns after this season. Hence, several teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, are being mentioned as potential destinations. Sports analyst Nick Wright made it clear he doesn’t support the potential move. Speaking on his show, Wright shared strong reservations about Durant joining the Spurs and what that would mean for Wembanyama’s growth.
“I would not like this for Wemby. I would not like this for Spurs because I look at Wemby and the Spurs as a team who is least likely to compete for a championship over the next 10 years, next year, with or without Kevin Durant,” Wright said.
According to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, the Spurs were just one of several teams that made a push for Durant back in February. The list reportedly also included the Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, and Miami Heat.
