The 2024-25 NBA season ended in bitter disappointment for the Phoenix Suns. Despite assembling a high-profile roster featuring Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the team collapsed early. They got blown out in the first round of the playoffs.
But the season’s failure wasn’t the only controversy surrounding the Suns. On Friday, former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins stirred up drama by claiming that the Suns’ locker room saw multiple fistfights during the season.
That bombshell didn’t sit well with Kevin Durant. The Suns forward swiftly took to X to set the record straight and call out what he viewed as a complete fabrication.
“I have to contest this 94 footer. This some bullshit to throw on us. Yea yea yea we were trash this year ha ha ha but we NEVER got close to this. NEVER,” Durant wrote.
Cousins, however, didn’t back down. He responded directly to Durant, claiming the story came from someone inside the Suns’ locker room.
“The source was one of your teammates killa. And I wasn’t referring to you! . Save this shit for the others homie,” Cousins replied.
However, Durant was still unconvinced. The Suns’ star fired back again, trying to cool things off but holding firm in his denial.

“Whoa whoa Boog, I don’t want no problems with you or anybody on earth. I Promise, all I’m saying is your source is lying,” Durant wrote.
As trade rumors intensify, Durant is widely expected to leave the Suns soon. However, he remains firm in defending the team’s core. Despite the $220 million investment in Durant, Booker, and Beal falling short of championship glory, Durant isn’t ready to label it a failure just yet.
Suns Set High Price For Kevin Durant

According to a report by Evan Sidery, relayed via the Burns and Gambo Show, the Suns are unlikely to send Durant to the Houston Rockets unless young forward Jabari Smith Jr. is included in the package.

Smith has quickly become a promising cornerstone for the Rockets. His combination of size, shooting, and defensive versatility makes him one of Houston’s most valuable assets. It’s no surprise that Phoenix is targeting him if they’re going to part ways with a superstar like Durant.
The Suns are fresh off a disappointing 2024-25 season. They are clearly looking to reshape their roster. However, they’re not operating out of desperation. As the report highlights, Phoenix is not in a rush to complete a Durant deal unless their demands are fully met. In fact, the front office is prepared to let trade discussions stretch beyond the 2025 NBA Draft if necessary.
