The Oklahoma City Thunder has been on a rampage this year. In the regular season, the OKC remained at the top. And now, with the knockout stages in play, the Thunder is ruling the conference finals. Going up against the Minnesota Timberwolves, OKC has gotten itself a resounding 2-0 lead. Now, with such a strong performance from the likes of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and co., the Thunder is dreaming of an NBA championship run. In the meantime, Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins seem to have quite a verbal back-and-forth.
Back in 2012, the Oklahoma City Thunder had a similar run. Although they reached the finals, the Thunder failed to get past LeBron James and the Miami Heat. Yet, they did manage to beat teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and San Antonio Spurs. After the season, Durant was adjudged as the best player in the Thunder’s unit. However, in a recent episode of ‘Road Trippin,’ Kendrick Perkins stated that his defensive skills were the pivotal factor for the same.
Now, such a claim did not sit well with Durant. Replying to Perkins, the former OKC star took a four-word jab at Perkins.
Reposting Perkins’ response, Durant said: “The actual real mvp.”

Surely, this was a sarcastic comment made by Durant. In fact, Durant and Perkins have had a fallout in recent years and currently do not share a friendly relationship. Meanwhile, with Kevin Durant becoming a huge NBA star, several athletes are trying to follow his blueprint.

Jayson Tatum suffered one of the biggest heartbreaks this season. Looking to guarantee a spot in the finals, Tatum suffered a brutal Achilles tear. This made him crash out of the tournament, along with the Boston Celtics. However, such a major injury has also put question marks on Tatum’s availability in the next season. But he is not losing hope. The Celtics’ star is looking forward to Kevin Durant’s blueprint to tackle his ACL injury.
“The expectation around Tatum is that he’ll consult with Kevin Durant about that rehab that Kevin Durant had several years ago and that’s going to be used as a template because Durant made the best recovery of a player from this injury,” Shams Charania said on ESPN’s ‘NBA Countdown.’
