The Phoenix Suns had a lot of expectations coming into the season. With the likes of Devin Booker and Kevin Durant expected to deliver, the fans seemed quite confident. Unfortunately, as the season progressed further, the Suns’ performance graph slowly began to go down. And now, with almost their season on the verge of being over, Kevin Durant has shared an honest take about his team.
During the season, the main problem for the Suns has been consistency. While they did have some success, the team failed to do so on a consistent basis. And Durant feels that their locker room drama is the primary culprit behind the same.
Speaking with the media, Durant stated, “I feel like we’ve always been a tight group. I feel like we’ve always had each others backs. Like l’ve been saying, a lot of stuff didn’t have to do with chemistry or guys didn’t like each other. Sometimes we just didn’t have the right scheme that night or we didn’t make 3s that night.”

Surely, with 35 wins and 38 losses, the Phoenix Suns have painted a sorry picture. But things were not so hopeless just a month back. After their loss against the Pelicans, Durant’s statement echoed hope.

Kevin Durant is not someone who would give up easily. Thus, despite suffering a crushing 116-124 defeat to the Pelicans back in late February, Durant seemed confident. Backing his team, Durant stated that he feels his teammates still have the zeal to win.
Durant noted, “Most definitely. I feel like everybody wants to win… I feel like everybody’s pissed off. When you see bad body language, that means people care. And guys care in this locker room, and I can tell they’re pissed.”

Unfortunately, all that seems to have changed drastically. With Durant probably switching his jersey for a new team next season, the future of the Phoenix Suns looks quite gloomy.
