The Orlando Magic have made their presence felt early in the 2024-25 offseason with a blockbuster trade that has the NBA world buzzing. On Sunday, the team acquired sharpshooting guard Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Shortly after the trade announcement, the Magic released a promotional video featuring Bane confidently tossing a basketball in the team facility. Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant reacted to the video with a six-word post on X.
“They heard this dap in Memphis,” Durant wrote.

The trade itself was one of the most aggressive moves Orlando has made in years. To land Bane, the Magic parted with veterans Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony, as well as a significant haul of draft capital. The deal included four unprotected first-round picks, most notably the No. 16 overall pick in the 2025 draft, a 2026 pick via Phoenix, and future picks in 2028 and 2030, plus a 2029 first-round pick swap.
Desmond Bane Shows Off Magic Jersey

Bane has officially landed in Florida. After being traded from the Grizzlies in a blockbuster deal, he gave fans the first look at his new chapter by unveiling his Magic jersey in the team’s locker room. In a video shared by the franchise, Bane stood proudly with his new jersey in hand, expressing what the moment meant to him.

“Toughest jersey I will ever wear. For sure,” Bane said.
For Orlando, the cost was steep. But it’s clear that they’re betting on themselves and on Bane. The 26-year-old guard averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists last season. He brings a mix of scoring, leadership, and toughness that perfectly complements the Magic’s rising roster.
