Kevin Durant couldn’t quite contain his excitement after the news broke that he’s been traded to the Houston Rockets.
This comes after a rollercoaster two-and-a-half seasons with the Phoenix Suns that didn’t quite go as planned. While attending Fanatics Fest in New York, Durant couldn’t help but smile as fans around him reacted to the trade announcement.
Once the news sank in, Durant reached out to Suns fans with a heartfelt message. He addressed the Suns fans for one last time while being mindful of the practicality of the trade.
When Kay Adams said, “There’s a lot of heartbroken Suns fans,” Durant shared his honest reaction and broke down the ins and outs of it.
“I doubt that. They wanted me to go so I’m glad they got what they wanted and I got what I wanted. We can move on, good luck to them going forward, and I’ll always remember my time there,” KD replied.

However, as easy as it sounds, the NBA fans on social media were shocked at the now-Rockets’ star. They went on a lengthy rant to point it out.

Kevin Durant’s Cold Response Over Suns Supporters Being Hurt Had Fans Shocked

The Suns are now taking their first steps towards a major reset after the Big Three experiment with Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal didn’t pan out.
During Durant’s time with the team, they only won one playoff series against a struggling Los Angeles Clippers team. The following season, they were swept in the first round and then missed the playoffs entirely this year.
They finished with a disappointing 36-46 record. Given this lack of success, it seems Durant’s move was a long time coming.
However, NBA fans on the internet have a lot to say about Durant’s cold response to the trade.
“Love him but thinnest-skinned athlete in all of sports, all levels,” a fan commented.

Despite all this, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists over 62 games, leading up to his departure.
The return the Suns received in exchange for Durant has been labeled “underwhelming” by some analysts. They ultimately settled for former No. 2 pick Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, this year’s No. 10 pick, and five second-round picks.
