Kevin Durant could make a move once again. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Phoenix Suns are deep in trade talks for the 15-time All-Star, and momentum is building quickly. Speaking on the Pat McAfee show, Charania said a deal could happen in the next few days, with the Rockets, Timberwolves, and Heat emerging as the frontrunners.
“There is some serious traction on conversations, on trade scenarios with the Suns,” Charania said. While as many as eight teams reached out, the Phoenix Suns are currently focused on those three suitors. With the NBA draft looming on June 25 and Kevin Durant entering the final year of his four-year, $166 million contract, time is a critical factor. An extension is still a key issue in the talks because of Durant’s age and how much he would cost.
Three Potential Destinations For Kevin Durant
Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves are offering a win-now package that includes Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, Rob Dillingham, or Terrence Shannon Jr, plus a first-round pick. Phoenix can reshape its frontcourt while adding youth and a draft asset. Minnesota would instantly become a top-tier contender with Kevin Durant joining Anthony Edwards.
Houston Rockets

Rocket’s proposal includes rising Jabari Smith Jr., Jalen Green, and a first-round pick. This deal leans toward long-term upside for the Suns, while the Rockets bet on Durant’s leadership to fast-track their rebuild. He would join a talented group that includes Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson.
Miami Heat

Heat offers Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jovic, Jamie Jaquez, and a first rounder brings depth and versatility. While the heat may not be as strong championship-ready as the other two, they provide Phoenix with immediate rotation and feature flexibility.

Spurs- Vassell, Sochan, Barnes, 14th pick
Twolves- Gobert, Divincenzo, Dillingham OR Shannon, 1st rd pick
Rockets- Jabari Smith, Jalen green, 1st rd pick
Heat- Wiggins, Jovic, Jaquez, 1st rd pick
Despite being 36, Kevin Durant remains elite. He averaged 26.6 points over 6.2 games last season, but Phoenix stumbled to a 36-46 record and missed the postseason. For teams with title aspirations, Kevin Durant offers a substantial playoff performer. However, any team trading for him has to decide if they want to keep him long term or use him for one season, like the Raptors did with Kawhi Leonard in 2018. With talks heating up and the draft approaching, the next few days could define the final chapter of Durant’s legendary career.
