Karl-Anthony Towns had a lot to handle in his personal life as his girlfriend, Jordyn Woods, is mourning the loss of her close friend. The New York Knicks star center recently sat out for the game against the Warriors, and the rumor mill started buzzing.
The situation became absolutely baffling as Woods put up a short tweet without any context at a time when Towns opted to sit out for personal reasons. The Knicks big man has been a crucial part of the team’s game plan,n and his absence was notable in the lineup.
While there were many speculations about the exact reason for his opt out of the Warriors game, Towns recently opened up.
“This is one of those moments where I had to be there for my family and be there for the kids that lost somebody really special to them,” Towns said. “I want to say that all the losses I’ve had have taught me how to appreciate life and find joy in the work. Not many people have a chance to have this job and be able to play basketball for a living.”
Karl-Anthony Towns and his girlfriend Jordyn Woods lost a close one due to cancer, as he was listed as out for personal reasons against the Knicks. Insanely insensitive to run with that stupid ass Jimmy narrative

Karl-Anthony actually missed the game due to the heaviness of losing his close family friend, Sarah Holtzman. Holtzman died of breast cancer after battling with it for about a decade. She was also close to Towns’ girlfriend Woods, and that was the reason behind Woods – “F**k cancer” tweet.

Draymond Green Blasted For His Baseless Karl-Anthony Towns-Jimmy Butler Theory

While Karl-Anthony Towns was handling the situation and chose to sit out for the game, it did not save him from unwanted attention. During his absence, Draymond Green made his baseless theory on Towns’ absence.
He made careless comments regarding Karl-Anthony’s absence from the recent game against the Warriors. During a podcast episode, Green suggested that Towns missed the game because he was avoiding playing against Jimmy Butler, who was in attendance.
“That was a big game for us. And obviously, they ain’t have KAT. Some would say he didn’t play because Jimmy was in the building. I don’t know. I saw KAT’s pops at the game yesterday, got incredible love for the OG, his pops is an incredible man. But yeah, they say KAT didn’t play because Jimmy came into town. You know him and Jimmy had the infamous practice in Minnesota,” Green speculated.
This is just a reckless and inappropriate conversation from Draymond and Baron Davis. Wouldn’t have been hard to do a little research or make a phone call before posting pic.twitter.com/GWyxXVYRQO

This claim came off as particularly insensitive given the circumstances surrounding Towns’ absence, which he later clarified was due to a family matter. Green’s lack of depth in understanding the situation, as he admitted he hadn’t “looked that deep into” the reasons for Towns’ absence, drew criticism from various media figures.
Stefan Bondy from the New York Post and Ian Begley from SNY were among those who called out Green for being irresponsible and reckless in his commentary. They also emphasize the importance of understanding a player’s situation before making such claims.
