Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving may have experienced a disappointing season, but he continues to surprise fans with his off-court activities. During a recent livestream, he reacted to several gameplay reels that left him speechless. Recently, he returned to the livestream, this time to praise his former rival, John Wall.
During the 2010s, John Wall and Kyrie Irving had a rivalry for the title of the best point guard in the Eastern Conference. Recently, Irving reflected on generational greatness while giving Wall a heartfelt tribute.
“Let me give John Wall his flowers. He set the precedent being the No.1 pick, being a point guard, being everything that you could want and being an exciting guard in the NBA. Both of us can onto the scene later on in the rankings. For us to go back-to-back was generational. …Two point guards going back-to-back no.1 picks, I don’t think we’ll see that again in the best league in the world. …So many great matchups against him, so many great moments of just us being ultra competitive because our towns, the hood back at home was talking who was better between us two. It made me who I am today.”
Wall had a successful career until December 29, 2018, when he suffered an injury to his left heel. Later, he ruptured his left Achilles tendon after slipping and falling at home. Wall last played for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2022-23 season, during which time he averaged 11.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in the 34 games he played.
