And from what we are hearing a lot lately, the former Golden State Warriors guard, De’Anthony Melton, is heavily linked to the Lakers.
Even though Melton has played only 44 games over the last two seasons, he is definitely a player to keep an eye on in free agency.
Anthony Slater from The Athletic recently suggested that Melton could be a solid pick-up for teams looking for a veteran minimum player. Despite coming off a tough ACL injury, there are several teams that are bound to take an interest in him.
Jovan Buha has thrown the Lakers into the mix, mentioning Melton on his podcast. Being a native of LA, it’s no surprise that the Lakers are considering him.
Buha thinks Melton could be a great low-cost addition, saying, “For a vet minimum contract, you could do a lot worse.”

However, from a basketball standpoint, joining the Lakers might not be the best move for Melton. With superstars like LeBron James and Luka Doncic on the roster, it could be tough for him to find the opportunities he needs to shine.
Melton is still young and likely focused on rebuilding his value after taking a prove-it deal with the Warriors. So he’ll want to find a situation where he can really show what he can do. And that could potentially earn a multi-year contract down the line.

The Lakers had a tough end to their 2024-25 NBA season. The Minnesota Timberwolves knocked them out of the playoffs in just five games.

After having the best season of his young career, Reaves showed he can really shine alongside superstars like James and Doncic.
He put up impressive averages of 20.2 points, 5.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 73 games. All of this while shooting 46% from the field and 37.7% from three-point range.
With those stats, his value has never been higher, making him an appealing prospect for other teams should he become available.
