
Wednesday! What a night for basketball fans at American Airlines Center, Dallas! The Los Angeles Lakers’ newbie Luka Doncic’s efforts helped them cross the winning line against the home team, the Dallas Mavericks. Yet the Lakers’ head coach, JJ Redick, wasn’t really pleased with the Slokovian’s performance.
After the game, Redick attended the press conference and was asked how he felt about Doncic’s great performance against his former team. To which the Lakers head coach made a sarcastic remark and said,
“I thought he was going to get 50. I was disappointed,” with a smile on his face.
Although it was overwhelming to see Dallas Mervicks gesture toward Luka Doncic, their former player didn’t lose himself in emotion. The Slokovian star had an incredible night, scoring 45 points.

After the incredible showdown between the Lakers and the Mavs, Redick talked about the beautiful moment he witnessed. He revealed that he was amused to see fans, coaches, and Doncic get emotional. Moreover, he noted that it was really surprising to see Doncic manage to get out of the zone and give his best performance.

“The moment with the tribute video and him sitting by himself and getting to actually live that and live in the moment and allowing himself to be vulnerable…His ability to then go perform, lights turn on, he’s teary-eyed still as we walk out on the court for the tip ball. To have the emotional resolve to then put on that kind of performance, it’s superhuman…” Redick said in the post-game presser.

It is noteworthy that Luka Doncic’s return to Dallas was more than the game. It was, in fact, an overwhelming and emotional homecoming for him. The arena was full of tearful eyes, and the tribute from the former team made it even more special.
However, from being emotional to playing the best of himself, Doncic delivered a stunning performance that must have surely won Lakers fans’ hearts.
