Anthony Davis coming back to the Los Angeles Lakers already? Now this looks like quite an absurd proposition. Davis has just been traded to the Dallas Mavericks in one of the biggest blockbuster deals in NBA history.
Leaving Davis in exchange for Luka Doncic had the entire NBA realm reeling. Thus, with only a couple of months after the trade, it is unlikely that Davis will return to the Lakers. However, recent hints were dropped by none other than the Lakers’ owner, Jeanie Buss.
Anthony Davis was long considered the next big star for the Lakers after LeBron James. Davis also had an extremely good relationship with the Lakers’ owner, Buss. In a recent interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio, Buss mentioned that she looked forward to chatting with Anthony Davis.
“I haven’t seen him face-to-face and I look forward to in the offseason. But you have to remember, he’s now under contract to another team. We’ve had too many instances of people accusing us of tampering, so I have to be really careful with stuff like that,” said Buss.

Surely, such a statement holds some significant weight. However, it is not yet confirmed if Davis really is a part of the Lakers’ offseason plans. However, taking the team forward, Jeanie Buss seems to be following her father, Dr. Jerry Buss’ ideologies. He, too, believed in maintaining a strong rapport with his players. Meanwhile, with the Lakers out of the league this year, LeBron James took a subtle dig at the Anthony Davis trade.

The Anthony Davis trade sent shockwaves throughout the NBA realm. And it also included legends like LeBron James. After a sad end to their campaign this season, James was asked if the Lakers’ shift towards a smaller roster was justified. However, without answering the question directly, James took a subtle dig at the situation surrounding Anthony Davis.
“My guy [Anthony Davis] said what he needed, and he was gone the following week,” James said in the press conference.
