Luka Doncic is really stepping up his game in the offseason, and it looks like it’s already starting to show. After his trade from the Dallas Mavericks to the Lakers back in February, he seems to be fully embracing this fresh start in Hollywood.
According to a recent report, Doncic has been serious about his conditioning and has dropped a good amount of weight. The star Slovenian has also been sticking to a strict diet and cardio routine.
“Doncic has been incredibly committed to his conditioning this offseason. He’s dropped significant weight and is working on strict diet and cardio training, according to a source with knowledge of the plan. In a shift from his normal offseason, he spent a month away from on-court work to focus more on his body. Doncic has looked visibly slimmer in photos and is now back working out with Slovenia readying for EuroBasket competition later this summer,” The Athletic’s Dan Woike wrote.

In a bit of a change from his usual ways, he even took a month just to focus on getting in shape instead of jumping straight into on-court work. Photos show him looking noticeably slimmer, which is awesome to see.
Lakers fans could now keep their worries at bay, as conditioning was the major issue. Doncic received the most criticism. The next season would be interesting for the LA fanbase.

While there was a widespread concern over his conditioning, Luka Doncic defied the odds. Last season, even with some fatigue and criticism about his fitness, he still put up impressive numbers.
He averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.7 assists. The Lakers had a solid record of 18-10 in the 28 games he played. However, the toll of the season showed during the 2024 NBA Finals.
Luka struggled a bit and seemed worn down. By prioritizing his fitness early this offseason, Doncic is setting himself up for a more consistent and stronger season in 2025–26. A leaner frame could also boost his defense and help reduce those pesky turnovers.
It’s exciting to see him putting in the hard work now, and everyone around the league should definitely take notice.
