The Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is no stranger to championship glory. LeBron James has already cemented his legacy by winning four NBA titles with three different teams. Yet, he actively challenges how greatness is measured in today’s NBA, especially regarding players who never won a championship.
During a recent episode of his Mind the Game podcast, LeBron took a firm stand against what he called the NBA’s “weird” obsession with championship rings. He spoke candidly about how the league and fans often discredit legendary players simply because they never won a title.
“Like, OK, ‘You weren’t a great player if you never won a championship,’ or ‘If you’ve won one, then you can’t be in the same conversation as this person,’” James said.
“I don’t know, man, it’s just like you sit here and tell me that Allen Iverson and Charles Barkley and Steve are f****g wasn’t unbelievable. Like, ‘Oh, they can’t be talked about or discussed with these guys because this guy won one ring or won two rings. It’s just weird to me,” he added.

“I have a lot of time to take care of my injury, my knee, the rest of my body, and make sure I’m as close to 100% as possible when training camp begins in late September,” James said.
The 40-year-old superstar suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain during Game 5 of the first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The injury limited his effectiveness and raised concerns about whether he’d return to full strength in time for the next campaign. The King is now ready when the curtain rises again in September.
