LeBron James is truly a star. From winning championships to regularly featuring in the NBA All-Star team, James has done it all. However, there are just certain things that are not possible for everyone to master. And one such thing for LeBron James is the 50-40-90 club. While he has failed to get into the elite bracket, James did not get shy while applauding Kevin Durant.
Well, for the record, the 50-40-90 club is the ultimate test of skill for an athlete. It requires a hooper to shoot 50% of the shots from the field, 40% from three-pointers, and 90% from free throws. And Durant has done it not once but twice! Speaking on the ‘Mind The Game’ podcast, James was pretty straightforward in hailing Durant for his impeccable achievement.
“I mean all the detail that you’re talking about is you know when we talk about efficiency you know. The mental and physical game of being a 50/40/90 player and there’s only been a small select few guys to do this NBA history the the 9050 40 club or 50 40 90 however you want to break it down you’ve done it twice you’ve done it twice and it was actually 10 years apart from when you did it,” said James.
And James also remembered how he had done the same, not once but twice! The first time was back in 2012-13. And the most recent one came in 2022-23. Meanwhile, with James apparently found in a light mood, his future with the Lakers looks a tad bit clouded.
LeBron James To Play His Final Season For The Lakers?

James has reportedly opted in for his $52.6 million player option. However, as per Sam Amick, this might be the last extension James will be getting from the Lakers. As the Lakers now want to portray Luka Doncic as their primary star, James’s staying beyond the 2025-26 season will become problematic.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that this could be LeBron James' last season as a Laker, even if he chooses not to retire, writes @sam_amick.

While the Lakers most certainly care about how James’ final chapter goes, any plans that go beyond the 2025-26 season present… pic.twitter.com/khpkkOfozX
As per Amick, committing to James at max salary will only block a chunk of the Lakers’ finances. Thus, even if King James wants to continue his NBA career after his 23rd birthday, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the icon.
