The Cleveland Cavaliers won 124-105 against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. And yet, this was not the big news for the Cavaliers’ fans. For them, the star of the night was Jarrett Allen. After all, in order to mimic NBA icon LeBron James, Allen attempted to pull off the fast break dunk. And although he failed to do so, James himself had a lot to say about the same.
For the uninitiated, one of LeBron James’s biggest moves has been his iconic fast-break dunk. While performing this act, James usually extends his arms with the ball before slamming it into the basket.
After watching Allen attempt the same, James posted a story reflecting on his attempt. The Lakers’ star initially posted some laughing emojis. However, he then went on to praise Allen.
“You got it next time J.A. Love this dude!!! GREAT ENERG AND SPIRIT,” wrote James in his story.

It all happened with three minutes remaining before the final whistle blew. With the Cavaliers in a superior position with a lead of 114-97, Allen made a fine interception. With Josh Hart’s intended pass for Karl-Anthony Towns snatched midway by Allen, he attempted the fast break dunk. However, while the attempt was botched, Allen later revealed his admiration for LeBron James.
“Honestly, I was telling them I wanted to look like LeBron trying to bring it back,” Allen said. “I looked at the replay, nothing close,” said Allen.
