Right now, at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, everyone is talking about the Los Angeles Lakers last year. This year, they are not making as much noise publicly. But they are still working behind the scenes to find a good player to team up with Luka Doncic so they can try to win a championship again.
Their biggest problem is that they don’t have a good center anymore after trading away Anthony Davis to get Doncic. People at the Combine say the Lakers are quietly looking to get either Nic Claxton from Brooklyn or Daniel Gafford from the Dallas Mavericks. But to get either of those players, the Lakers would have to sacrifice some good players or draft picks, and other teams are watching to see what the Lakers are willing to do.
Three Trade Assets Draw The Most Interest In The Los Angeles Lakers’ Depth

According to Multiple team leaders, the Lakers’ top three trade assets are guard Austin Reaves, second-year wing Dalton Knecht, and their unprotected 2031 first-round pick.
Reaves is the leading player other teams want if the Lakers make a big trade. The Lakers don’t want to trade him unless they can get an excellent center in return. He will get paid more next year and is one of the few Lakers who can improve. He’s good at starring in plays and defending different kinds of players, which makes him crucial in the NBA now.
Another young player the Lakers could trade is Dalton Knecht, whom they traded last year. Even though he was not a big star in his first year, scouts like him because he’s big, can shoot well, and can play both offense and defense. Additionally, he doesn’t cost the team much money right now. He could be the extra thing the Lakers add to the trade to make it work.
Then there’s the draft pick in 2031. It’s a long way away, but other teams think it’s valuable, as nobody knows how good or bad the Lakers will be in six years. It’s one of the last really good things the Lakers have to offer in a trade.
