The Los Angeles Lakers have become a dominant force since star guard Luka Doncic joined the franchise. While the Doncic-Anthony Davis trade came as a shock for many, the Lakers have now managed a four-game winning streak. JJ Redick’s side defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 111-102 at the Crypto.com Arena on Thursday night. While LeBron James scored a game-high, Wolves’ Anthony Edwards faced ejection during the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves faced each other thrice before this matchup. The Wolves managed two home wins while they lost their previous road trip to LA. With this win, the Lakers and Wolves shared two head-to-head wins each this season.
Lakers Big Three Dominate, Anthony Edwards Gets Ejected
The 40-year-old Lakers superstar continued his high-scoring performance and registered a game-high 33-point performance. He grabbed 17 rebounds and made six assists, a steal, and a block. Anthony Edwards was ejected from the game in the third quarter after receiving his second technical foul. The Wolves guard picked up his 16th technical foul of the season against the Lakers and will be suspended for the Wolves’ next game against the Utah Jazz. Before leaving the game, Edwards scored 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
For the Timberwolves, rookie Terrence Shannon Jr. scored a team-high 25 points on 60% shooting from the field. However, he lacked support from his teammates as Jaden McDaniels (15), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (14), and Mike Conley (10) were the only players to score in double digits.
Although the Timberwolves came close to pulling off a comeback, the Lakers held their nerves to clinch the victory. With this win, the Lakers improved their season record to 36-21 and moved past the Houston Rockets to fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
