Luka Doncic Shares Honest Take On Life In Los Angeles, And Fans Can Easily Relate

Since his trade, the Lakers fan base and the city of Los Angeles have truly embraced Luka Doncic.

While he must have experienced some cultural shock, the superstar Slovenian is also troubled by something else.

Doncic opened up during his latest appearance on the ‘Mind the Game’ podcast with LeBron James and Steve Nash.

“This is the first city I play in that has an ocean, and I really like the ocean. First thing, I mean, after a couple days, that was the first thing on my mind, you know. It’s a lot. I like it, I like it very much. The only thing is the traffic,” Doncic said.

Luka obviously has a lot to enjoy during his current stint at the Lakers camp, though he is getting agitated over traffic.

Los Angeles is known for its heavy traffic. It ranked third in the U.S. for the average hours lost in traffic, which reached 88 hours in 2024. 

However, before joining the Lakers, Doncic was drafted third overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 NBA Draft. However, he was traded to the Mavericks on draft night. 

Throughout his career, he has made five All-Star appearances, been named to five All-NBA First Teams, and won the Rookie of the Year award in 2019. Additionally, he also played a crucial role in leading the Mavericks to the NBA Finals the previous season.

NBA Fans Agree With Luka Doncic’s Struggle With LA Traffic

While the trade brought him to a new city, Luka Doncic got a dedicated teammate in LeBron James to form a great duo.

The environment is perfect for someone coming from Dallas. Although the traffic around LA does not suit Doncic, Lakers fans couldn’t agree more.

“Traffic is the only thing that sucks,” a fan commented.

“Luka definitely never leaving LA,” another fan wrote.

“Dude is so happy to be out of Dallas,” a third one added.

“Lakers have to build around him,” another fan wrote.

“Luka gonna have to get used to LA traffic,” a user wrote.

“Luka’s ocean love is overshadowed by LA traffic,” another one said.

However, like after every other major event, Doncic will get used to the traffic in no time.
