Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban recently was in the middle of a heated exchange with former team event manager Gavin Mulloy, who publicly criticized him on social media. The back-and-forth, which centered on Cuban’s loss of control over the franchise, shed light on tensions following his 2023 sale of the team.
Mulloy didn’t hold back in his Facebook post, writing, “Cuban should be run out of Dallas.” While many high-profile figures might have ignored such a remark, Cuban chose to respond directly.
“Hey Gavin Mulloy, how much of a bonus did you get when I sold?” Cuban wrote in the comment.
Mulloy responded by arguing that Cuban should have maintained control of basketball operations. However, Cuban was quick to defend his tenure and financial sacrifices as the Mavericks’ majority owner. He then revealed the financial burden he carried during his ownership, something many fans and employees might not have been aware of.

“You didn’t say a word when it showed up in your account, did you? Sure looked good when we made it to the Finals, didn’t it? I did every damn thing I could for 23 years. Kept prices lower than not only any NBA team, but lower than college teams too. Lost hundreds of millions of dollars. And you kept on collecting your salary,” Cuban wrote.
Cuban’s post also hinted at a possible rift between himself and the Mavericks’ current leadership, particularly GM Nico Harrison. He was never a fan of Harrison’s controversial midseason trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis. Hence, Cuban took another shot at Mulloy’s criticism by dragging the issue.

“The Nico and the new owners do something that none of us liked, and you decide to try to f*** with me,” he added.
Gavin Mulloy Reacts To Mark Cuban’s Reply

Mulloy was taken aback by Mark Cuban’s direct engagement. The former Mavs employee later admitted to WFAA that he never expected such a response.
“I found it extremely interesting that someone would jump into my Facebook post on my personal page, who I’m not even friends with. I never in a million years thought Mark Cuban was gonna jump in a Facebook thread and start answering questions,” Mulloy said.
Since Luka Doncic’s trade, Cuban’s sale of the Mavericks has remained a major talking point. Many fans believe that had he still been in charge, Doncic would not have been traded. Cuban himself has recently claimed the same thing about Luka’s controversial trade.
