The Dallas Mavericks have made several controversial decisions this season regarding their star players, and the consequences of those moves are now becoming clear. One of the most debated trades involved sending Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Caleb Martin just before the trade deadline. While the Mavericks aimed to restructure their roster, Grimes has been proving his worth in Philadelphia.
On Monday, Grimes delivered a standout performance for the 76ers. He scored a career-high 46 points while grabbing 13 rebounds, four assists, and two steals against the Houston Rockets. Though Philadelphia ultimately fell short in a high-scoring 144-137 game, Grimes’ display of talent did not go unnoticed.

This wasn’t an isolated case. Since being traded to Philadelphia, Grimes has taken his game to another level. He scored a then-career-high 44 points against the Golden State Warriors and has been averaging 34.5 points per game over his last four contests. In his 17 games with the Sixers so far, he has averaged 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
Mavs Fans Regret Quentin Grimes Trade After His Career Surge

With Quentin Grimes now excelling and flourishing in Philadelphia, Mavericks fans have directed their anger at GM Nico Harrison. Social media has been flooded with criticism, as many feel that trading two of their best players midseason was a major misstep.

Grimes’ resurgence has sparked frustration among Mavericks fans, as they are reminded of another painful midseason trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Dallas traded Doncic to acquire Anthony Davis, but the decision immediately backfired.
Unfortunately, an injury has sidelined Anthony Davis after his Mavericks debut. Meanwhile, Doncic is thriving in Los Angeles. He is averaging 26.6 points per game and playing a key role in the Lakers’ rise in the Western Conference standings.
Their frustration is understandable, given the Mavericks’ current state. The team holds a 33-36 record and sits in the 10th spot in the Western Conference.
