Since February, Dallas Mavericks fans have voiced their frustration after the shocking trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. The reaction has largely targeted the team’s general manager, Nico Harrison, who faced intense scrutiny for initiating the talks that led to the deal.
One of the most glaring moments of regret came during the 97-112 loss to the Lakers. During the game, fans’ anger was palpable from the very start. Just five seconds into the game, chants of “FIRE NICO” erupted.

The entire arena was vocal in expressing their displeasure. The moment was made even more uncomfortable for Harrison as he was present to witness Luka’s brilliance firsthand.
Doncic wasted no time reminding the Mavericks faithful of what they lost. In his first game back in Dallas after the trade, he delivered a stunning performance, scoring a season-high 45 points, along with eight rebounds and six assists. His determination to make a statement was evident, as he gave everything to entertain the fans who once cheered him for over six seasons.

On the flip side, the Mavericks may have felt regret after witnessing Anthony Davis’s performance, the player they acquired in exchange for Luka Doncic. Davis recorded 13 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in his game against his former Lakers team.

Despite the emotions surrounding the trade, Luka Doncic remained respectful when asked about Davis after the game. The Lakers star heaped high praise on Davis.
“We got traded for each other, so now everybody is going to compare us. He’s an amazing player, and I think he’s going to do really good in Dallas,” Luka said.
Both Davis and Doncic have found their place with their respective new teams and teammates. However, Mavericks fans are still grappling with the trade, as they once held high hopes for Luka to lead Dallas to another championship.
