It’s been months since we first heard about Trae Young being traded. And so far, the Atlanta Hawks superstar is still on the block, ready to be shipped.
Recently, NBA analyst Zach Lowe hit home with his latest take on Young and the Hawks.
With the Hawks struggling to find their footing in recent seasons, there’s definitely a lot of uncertainty around Young’s future in Atlanta. However, Lowe makes a compelling case for why the Hawks should stick with their star guard.
“I kind of want the Hawks to keep Trae Young long-term. I don’t think there’s a great market for him. So I don’t think there’s a trade out there that completely just reorients the franchise in a positive way,” Lowe said.

Despite this, the analyst mentioned how he sees Young’s next term coming with the team.
“If I can extend him at a decent number, I just kind of like their team. And I do think he’ll change his style of play a little bit. I think there’s hope for like a Trae Young mid-career. Metamorphosis is too strong of a word, but I could see, like, in a year. It‘s like, ‘oh my god, the Hawks are like, up 2-1 in the second round. And Trae Young is moving off the ball a little bit’…like I could see it,” he added.

Young has shown what he can do, leading the team to three straight playoff appearances from 2021 to 2023. Additionally, he even took them to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021.
But, unfortunately, the last couple of years have been tougher, with early playoff exits and missed opportunities in the play-in tournament.
Trae Young To The Utah Jazz?

While Lowe hints that a trade in the given scenario does make sense, there could be a team looking for Trae Young.
According to him, there were some rumors running during the NBA Draft Combine, linking the Hawks star to the Utah Jazz.
However, he was a bit skeptical about the whole idea, hinting that it might just be hot air.
“There was some Utah buzz at the Combine, and I think that was bogus. At what point do they just have to do something, whatever it is, to pair someone with Markkanen? Maybe this is the one that makes sense. I didn’t get the sense that the Jazz were going to be super interested in that,” Lowe said.
Lowe pointed out that after a tough outcome in the draft lottery, the Jazz might be feeling the urge to shake things up. Rumor has it that Utah will find a way to pair a star player with Lauri Markkanen.
In this hypothetical scenario, a trade package from Utah could involve players like Collin Sexton and John Collins, along with some draft picks to sweeten the deal.
