Before the second-round series against the New York Knicks began, the Boston Celtics were widely expected to dominate. However, the storyline quickly shifted as things unraveled for Boston. A major turning point came in Game 4 when Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum suffered a devastating injury that changed the course of their playoff hopes.
Tatum went down with a torn Achilles tendon during Game 4 of the series. The injury required surgery to repair. As the heart and soul of the team, his absence dealt a massive blow to Boston’s title defense. The timing couldn’t have been worse for the Celtics and for Tatum himself.
Notably, Tatum has recently been in the spotlight for his role in a major advertising campaign in a Superman-themed commercial. Stunningly, his recently released commercial has reportedly been pulled following the injury. The campaign, which had initially garnered attention for placing Tatum in the shoes of a heroic icon, has now been shelved, according to a report from Sportico.

News of the commercial being pulled left fans scratching their heads. The initial report came from NBA Central. But at first glance, many fans mistook it for a post from NBA Centel, a parody account known for satire and misinformation.
“Wait…I thought this was Centel…wtf,” one user commented in disbelief.

Beyond the confusion over the source, fans were also puzzled by the reasoning behind the ad’s removal. Some questioned the symbolism and timing of the decision.
“Was it because Superman can’t tear an Achilles? Or is it because the Celtics were about to be eliminated?” one fan wrote.

Without Tatum, the Celtics got eliminated from the playoffs. The Knicks defeated them 119-81 in Game 6 and advanced to the conference finals.
