The New York Knicks remain without a head coach following their decision to part ways with Tom Thibodeau just three days after being eliminated from the Eastern Conference Finals. Since the move, a number of potential replacements have surfaced. Speculation has been swirling about who might be the right fit to lead the franchise forward.
NBA insider Sam Amick recently shared his insights on The Jim Rome Show. During the segment, Amick was asked who would be a better fit for the Knicks between Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins. Amick sided with Brown, pointing to Mike’s past experience.
“The spotlight is different. Mike has done Cleveland with LeBron, Mike has done L.A. with Kobe and the Lakers. You know, in terms of media, he’s a guy who could sit there and talk for 45 minutes in a press conference—to the point where the reporters are actually kind of done, which never ever happens,” Amick said.

“You know what I mean? So I would probably argue that Mike’s a better fit, but you’re right. Both guys are great coaches—I agree with you,” he concluded.
Jason Kidd Still In Consideration For The New York Knicks’ Head Coach Job

In their search, the Knicks reportedly asked permission to interview Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd. However, the Mavericks declined their request. Still, hope may not be lost for New York. According to a report by Ian Begley, there’s a possibility that the door isn’t fully shut on acquiring Kidd.

“The door is not completely closed on the Knicks and Jason Kidd, per people familiar with the dynamic in Dallas. Other outlets reported as recently as last week that Kidd was still a possibility, and that remains the case as of Monday,” Begley wrote.
As it stands, the Knicks are the only team in the NBA currently without a head coach. Their pursuit has extended to other notable names, including Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka and Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch. Unfortunately for New York, both teams have denied permission for their respective coaches to interview with the Knicks.
