New Orlando Pelicans owner Gayle Benson finally addressed the explosive civil lawsuit involving star forward Zion Williamson. The complaint, filed in Los Angeles, accuses Williamson of sexual assault, domestic violence, and drug-fueled abuse by a woman named Jane Doe, who is widely speculated to be an adult film actress, Moriah Mills.
The timing is critical. Williamson’s legal team flatly denies the allegations, describing them as false and extortion-driven. According to them, Williamson and the woman had a brief, consensual relationship that ended years ago. They also say he told the police she tried to blackmail him. His legal team plans to sue her for defamation.
On Tuesday, Benson gave a short statement regarding the lawsuit, saying, “You know, lawsuits are lawsuits. You really can’t, you know…people can sue you for anything.” She suggested that just because someone is sued doesn’t mean they are guilty. This was her first public comment since the lawsuit became public.

The lawsuit makes serious claims of rape and violence from 2020, when Williamson was training in Beverly Hills. The case is heading into a major legal fight that could affect his reputation and involve large amounts of money.
Zion Williamson’s Low Trade Budget

The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly open to trading any player this offseason, including Zion Williamson. Despite his star status, executives view him as a risky asset due to durability concerns and off-court issues. According to Shamit Dua, most trade offers would likely include bad contracts and minimal draft compensation.

Williamson averaged 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 30 games this season but missed over half the year with injuries. Entering the third year of a $197 million deal, his future with the team remains uncertain as the Pelicans weigh their options amid growing skepticism.
With questions surrounding his reality and value, Zion’s once-promising future with the Pelicans now hangs in the balance. As trade talks gain momentum, the Pelicans face a tough decision.
