Stephen A. Smith has been on the news recently for all the wrong reasons. Smith has been getting all the attention due to his ongoing feud with LeBron James. Criticizing James for his parenting skills of Bronny James, the duo has been engaged in heated banter ever since. However, much to Smith’s agony, the New Orleans Pelicans decided to rub some more salt in his wounds.
In a recent video uploaded on X, the Pelicans posted a throwback clip of Stephen A. Smith. They captioned the post, “good day to bump this.” The resultant video was from February 2025, where Smith could be seen playing basketball.
As the video continued, it showed snippets of Smith’s tenure at the HBCU, Winston-Salem State. Smith played for the iconic coach, Clarence ‘Big House’ Gaines.

Unfortunately, an unexpected injury cut his tenure short and Smith only averaged 1.5 during his stay. This was surely a brutal dig at the ESPN presenter. And with the plot thickening further, Shannon Sharpe had a brutal take on the Smith-James rivalry.

“I wish Stephen A. would’ve just left it alone. Once he addressed it, once it happened — address it, ‘This is what happened, he came over to me, said what he said, I’m gonna address it,’ and be done with it,” Sharpe said. He further added, “Because, as my grandma used to say, ‘Stirring up old-ish, it still smells.’ So, every time Stephen A. talks about it, it stirs it up again.”
