The New York Knicks had high expectations this year. And while they failed to lift the title, the front office made a stunning move. Shocking the NBA world, the Knicks decided to give the golden handshake to Tom Thibodeau. And while they have newly appointed Mike Brown at the helm, it comes with a catch. Brown needs to prove himself this season, or he might just follow in Thibodeau’s footsteps!
In a recent appearance, David Dennis Jr. dissected the Knicks’ motto going forward. And according to him, Mike Brown has a lot of responsibility to handle. In fact, the Knicks would surely expect him to make the finals this year. And that’s not all. Dennis Jr. opined that Brown at least will be expected to win the championship if he wants to make an impact as the head coach.
“You are a failure for this season if you do not at least make the finals and win a championship,” said Dennis Jr.

Surely, Dennis Jr. has a point here. After all, Tom Thibodeau had quite an impressive CV. For the first time since 1994-95, Thibodeau made the Knicks win 50 games back to back. Meanwhile, in getting Mike Brown on board, Shams Charania detailed an interesting aspect of the hiring.

Mike Brown is a four-time champion as an assistant coach. He has experience working with LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Stephen Curry. Thus, Shams Charania recently opined that the New York Knicks are banking heavily on Brown because of his offensive mentality.

“He’s coached a vast array of superstar talent across three decades as an NBA assistant and head coach. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Tim Duncan… in 2022-23, he had the top-rated offense in the NBA. The Knicks are obviously hoping for the same type of adaptability and offensive creativity. (Especially) this upcoming season around Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns,” Charania said on SportsCenter.
