Former Boston Celtics star and lifelong fan Paul Pierce was clearly displeased following Boston’s elimination by the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Celtics lost the series 4-1, and after the Knicks advanced to the Conference Finals, Pierce didn’t hold back in voicing his opinion. He even made a bold prediction against New York.
Pierce’s resentment toward the Knicks hasn’t faded. During a recent appearance on FSI, he claimed that the Knicks got “lucky” in the series and insisted the better team lost. He even dragged in a boxing analogy to make his point.
“The Knicks got lucky. We broke an NBA record for misses. We didn’t expect that. Coming into, we’re going to say, oh, you know, the game plan for us Knicks, we got to hope the Boston Celtics miss an NBA record, and then we’ll have a chance, you guys,” Pierce said.

“You have two boxers go 12 rounds. I'll beat you up for 11 rounds, and then you caught me in the 12, and you slap me. Who was the better fighter?”

Before this latest rant, Pierce had already stirred attention after Game 1 with another bold prediction about the Knicks. He even had to fulfill a promise by walking miles after that game, which fans haven’t forgotten.
“Bros just mad he had to walk to the studio looking like Tony Soprano,” one fan joked, referencing Pierce’s earlier walk of shame.

Clearly, the Knicks still haven’t earned Pierce’s respect. Whether they can win the title and maybe even win him over remains to be seen.
